Teacher Twitter Chat: Communicating with Students and Families

This giveaway has concluded. Visit our Teacher Funding Opportunities page to learn more about current and upcoming educator funding opportunities from AdoptAClassroom.org.

Communication between teachers and students has always been vital for success in the classroom. But during these unprecedented times of distance learning en masse, communication between teachers and their students is more important than ever before. Many teachers are new to teaching in a virtual classroom, and are continuing to explore the best methods to communicate effectively from afar. AdoptAClassrsoom.org would like to help.

This Thursday, we’re bringing together our educator community for another Twitter chat on distance learning. During this live Twitter discussion, we will focus on strategies for communicating with students and their parents/guardians while teaching remotely. Our intent is to provide a live forum for our teachers to share ideas and learn from one another about what is working and what is not.

If you are a K-12 teacher, administrator or education professional, please join our #DistanceLearningChat to discuss your needs, resources, and solutions for communicating while teaching remotely. The live #DistanceLearningChat Twitter event will take place on Thursday, April 23rd, 2020 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm CT.

Participating teachers, who follow @Adopt_Classroom on Twitter, are eligible to enter to receive one of five $100 donations on AdoptAClassroom.org (teachers have 12 months from the date of the donation to use it to purchase classroom supplies).

$500 Twitter Giveaway: #DistanceLearningChat

To enter, use our hashtag “#DistanceLearningChat” during the live Twitter event to ask questions or answer teachers’ questions on the topic of distance learning.

The more you use the hashtag to ask or answer questions, the more chances you’ll have to win.

Don’t have a Twitter account?

We’ll also pose a #DistanceLearningChat question on Facebook and Instagram at 9am CT on Thursday, April 23rd. Answer or ask a question on Facebook and/or Instagram for an additional entry in our giveaway before the chat ends at 8:30pm CT.

Teachers Need Community Now More Than Ever

With school closures across the country, teachers have had to re-evaluate and change their communication strategies to connect with and continue teaching their students remotely. This is a massive adjustment that many teachers haven’t experienced before, but there’s a community of teachers who want to help each other get through this difficult time together.

Through the #DistanceLearningChat Twitter chat, we hope to connect teachers across the country who can share tips and resources on distance learning communication strategies during this transition period. We’ll keep our blog updated with communication resources for teachers, so check back in after the Twitter chat for even more tips.
