This #GivingTuesday, help us end 2019 strong so we can help even more teachers in 2020.
A generous donor is matching #GivingTuesday gifts on 12/3/19 to our Annual Fund, so act fast!*
And, if you give over $150, we’ll send you your very own giant AdoptAClassroom.org pencil. This is a great gift if you’re making a donation in honor of a loved one for the holiday season. It even writes and erases!
At AdoptAClassroom.org, it’s important to us that our platform is free and it’s easy for teachers to get what they need. That’s why there are no sign-up fees and 100% of every classroom adoption goes directly to the teacher.
With your help last school year, we made sure 750,000 kids had what they needed in the classroom in order to succeed. Because of Annual Fund donors, we’re able to give teachers 100%.
There is a crisis in education funding and we need to make sure teachers have our support now more than ever. It is vital that our free platform remains available to teachers so they can do what they were hired to do: teach. Make a gift this #GivingTuesday and help us prepare for 2020 so we can fight back and create real change in education.
Your gift to AdoptAClassroom.org powers the classroom success stories of real teachers like Jennifer below. Jennifer, like 51% of public school teachers, teach in a Title I school. That means students in their community come from low-income households and receive free or reduced-price lunch.
We prioritize giving to Highest-Need classrooms because we believe that equity in education is a crucial part of righting the wrongs in our education system.
Here’s the real story of Jennifer, a teacher who received AdoptAClassroom.org funding.
Before Jennifer received funding from AdoptAClassroom.org, she was forced to choose between buying everything for her classroom with her own money or going without.
Jennifer is a 7th grade teacher and said her budget for the year was ZERO:
Her wish list isn’t extravagant. She wanted “copy paper, markers, colored pencils, glue, paint.”
She listed supplies that are used up every year and need to be repurchased. If the school doesn’t buy it, and families can’t afford it, Jennifer has to make the difficult decision of whether to go without the basics or to pay for them out of pocket.
These supplies were particularly important because many of her students were English Language Learners. While they develop their English skills, it’s still important to gauge their understanding of other subjects. Art is a universal language, and Jennifer utilizes art supplies and asks her students to complete project based assignments, rather than written tests, to gauge proficiency.
AdoptAClassroom.org donors like you swooped in as the hero in Jennifer’s story. YOU filled the gap for her, and her 65 students received $750 in funding for those crucial supplies. Now, Jennifer’s students have what they need to reach their potential. She said: “Our students will become bilingual, biliterate, multicultural life-long learners. Our students will achieve great things!”
Make your #GivingTuesday gift to power more classroom success stories like Jennifer’s today!
