Subaru Supports 750,000+ Students Nationwide

Ninety-two percent of teachers in the U.S. have students whose families cannot afford any school supplies. That’s why Subaru of America has teamed up with AdoptAClassroom.org® for the fourth consecutive year to provide teachers with funding to purchase learning materials for their students.

As part of their award-winning Subaru Loves Learning initiative, Subaru and its retailers are adopting more than 6,000 classrooms nationwide this school year.

By the end of the year, Subaru will have helped more than 750,000 students access school supplies with AdoptAClassroom.org since 2021.

How Subaru Helps Students Learn

Teachers spend an average of $860 out-of-pocket on classroom supplies each year so their students don’t go without.

Alysia, a teacher in Arizona, spent $1,000 to $1,500 of her own money in a single school year on learning materials for her students.

“I spend my own money on school supplies because I want my students to receive the best education possible,” said Alysia. “We want our classrooms to always have all supplies needed so students don’t feel left out and can make the most of their learning potential.”

Millions of students at high-needs schools lack the supplies necessary to be successful in the classroom. That’s where Subaru steps in.

Nine in 10 teachers said Subaru’s donation increased access to materials they couldn’t buy without their support.

Alysia and her colleagues have received donations from their local Subaru retailer for three consecutive years. The relationship has been life-changing for their students.

“Thanks to Subaru, my school has fully funded and stocked classrooms,” said Alysia. “It takes a village to make sure that each student has a successful learning experience.”

When Subaru donates to classrooms, they’re removing the educational barriers that prevent students from doing their best work. On average, 89% of students in classrooms adopted by Subaru were more engaged in their learning because of the donation.

Subaru and its retailers have helped teachers provide more than 440,000 items to their classrooms. By 5th grade, Alysia’s student Izzy already understands the difference these school supplies have on her ability to learn and succeed.

“School supplies help me learn and get my work done,” said Izzy. “We need pencils, paper, headphones, whiteboards, markers, and coloring supplies. It makes me feel so grateful knowing that we have companies like Subaru who support our school.”
