J.Crew has teamed up with AdoptAClassroom.org to support PreK-12 art teachers and PreK-12 art schools because they believe a strong art education is essential for every child’s development and success. Their donation will help foster creativity for students in high-needs schools in need of classroom supplies.
Donations like this are so important because arts programs like theater, music, and visual arts are often vulnerable to school budget cuts. This problem is exacerbated in 2023 as nearly half of teachers say their classroom budget, if they do receive one, doesn’t go as far due to inflation.
Every student deserves access to an arts education to help them develop their self-expression and creativity. The average teacher at a high-needs school digs deep and spends an average of $880 of their own money each year to equip their students with the tools they need to thrive in school.
Three out of every four teachers say that they feel supported when their community helps provide supplies and resources that their classrooms need. When J.Crew donates classroom funds through AdoptAClassroom.org to arts classrooms in three communities where their associates and customers live and work, J.Crew is telling our teachers that they are important and they’re not alone in educating our next generation. We are here to help.
In addition to supporting arts classrooms in Lynchburg, VA, Asheville, NC, and New York City, NY, J.Crew associates surprised teachers at the Renaissance School for the Arts in New York City with news of their adoption at a school-wide assembly. They also brought with them a special arts project engaging both students and J.Crew associates. J.Crew also gave each Renaissance teacher a J.Crew gift card to provide them with a new back-to-school wardrobe.
Thanks to J.Crew’s partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, they’re helping us continue to make a difference for more than 20,000 classrooms and nearly 500,000 students each year.
