Since 2017, Burlington has adopted thousands of classrooms coast to coast with AdoptAClassroom.org, an award-winning partnership that has provided school supplies to more than 1.3 million students and counting.

This year, Burlington is raising funds to help even more students thrive in school. Burlington customers can donate at checkout to support AdoptAClassroom.org from July 22 to August 26, 2024.

Every little bit helps. Over the past seven years, Burlington’s generous customers have donated more than $12 million to AdoptAClassroom.org at the register, helping advance equity in education one classroom at a time.

Classroom Donations Help Students Learn

Sophia is a middle school teacher in one of the 50,000+ classrooms adopted by Burlington Stores since 2017. As a teacher at a high-needs school, Sophia estimates that about 90% of her students come to school without the classroom supplies they need to learn.

Basic school supplies like pencils, pens, and notebooks can be difficult to afford for families living below the poverty line. Burlington’s support transforms classrooms like Sophia’s so students have what they need, no matter their economic circumstances.

For Aretha, an elementary teacher in New York, the classroom donation she received from Burlington Stores helped give her students access to new activities and school essentials to level the playing field.

By 4th grade, Aretha’s student Chelsea already understood the importance of school supplies and how they can impact her ability to learn and thrive in school and beyond.

“I need school supplies to learn,” said Chelsea. “Learning is important to me because it can help me when I’m older. For example, math can help me figure out how much I need to pay for groceries.”
