The new school year is right around the corner. We hear that teachers are already busy decorating their classrooms for the year ahead.
You read that right. Pencils and folders are always important, but as teachers you put a lot of effort into the supplies that decorate your room, too. You know that the environment children are learning in can make a big impact on the quality of their education.
According to Dr. Sheryl Reinisch, director of Early Childhood Education Programs at Concordia University-Portland, “high-quality classroom environments help children feel safe, secure, and valued. As a result, self-esteem increases and students are motivated to engage in the learning process.”
With that in mind, we have a few places you can purchase fun decorations using your AdoptAClassroom.org account. Click shop, and then click on The Teacher Store logo. From there, search “room décor” and you will find a variety of different bulletin board borders, and POP! Charts. Office Depot is another good vendor to search “classroom decorations.” You will find bulletin board sets and themed kits for your classroom.
Also, don’t be afraid to think outside of the box when it comes to decorations. Posters and wall decals are always fun, but that doesn’t mean those are your only resources. A classroom pet can make the classroom feel more like a home as well as student artwork on the walls. If you’re feeling creative over the summer, you can even try making some of your own classroom decorations as well.
